NORBA is changing its affiliation from the International Mountain Biking Association to the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association ("SORBA")
SORBA Transition FAQ
Q: Why is NORBA making this change?
A: As our chapter has continued to grow, joining SORBA provides us with more support, resources, and connection to other chapters across the Southeast. This change allows us to better serve our members and strengthen mountain biking locally and regionally. Additionally, an enhanced membership experience is available through the SORBA app which will improve our communication, organization, and perks for official members.

Q: What is the SORBA app?
A: The SORBA app will be your new way to manage your membership. This is a custom app for SORBA members, built by Hivepass (an app specifically designed for mountain bike clubs and trail associations). It allows you to manage your membership, access your digital membership cards and member benefits, and stay up to date with NORBA and SORBA news and events, all in one place.

Q: How do I access the SORBA app?
A: On November 17th, our membership page will include download buttons for the SORBA app as well as an online portal (if you prefer not to download the app). You’ll receive an email from noreply@hivepass.app on November 17th with instructions on how to log in. For more information about SORBA membership and using the new platform, visit sorba.org/membership-faq.

Q: What if I don’t receive the November 17th email?
A: Check your junk folder for any emails from noreply@hivepass.app. If you still don’t see it, use the “I forgot my password” button in the SORBA app/portal with your membership email to reset, or contact membership@sorba.org.

Q: What happens to my current NORBA membership?
A: It transfers to the SORBA app until it expires, while also becoming a National Supporter membership with IMBA until it expires. Your NORBA / SORBA membership will not auto-renew until you set up a subscription in the SORBA app. If you are on a monthly or annual
auto-renew membership through IMBA and wish to cancel, please contact IMBA at membership@imba.com.

Q: What if I don’t want to download the SORBA App?
A: No problem. You’ll be able to log in to the online portal of the SORBA app via our website. Downloading the app is optional, but it offers the best experience for accessing your digital card, chapter news, and member perks.

Q: Will my membership cost change?
A: Membership dues continue to start $39/year for individuals and $50/year for families. Family memberships include two adults and two children, with the option to add additional members at $30/adult and $5/child.

Q: Will my auto-renew continue?
A: For your NORBA membership, auto-renew will NOT carry over to the SORBA app. When it is time to renew, you’ll choose the membership level you wish to support and can also choose then if you would like to sign up for an annual recurring subscription.
For your IMBA National Supporter membership, auto-renew WILL continue unless you contact IMBA at membership@imba.com.
Q: Can I support both NORBA/SORBA and IMBA?
A: Yes. After November 17, 2025 these are separate memberships. To support NORBA, join/renew in the SORBA app (selecting NORBA). You may also continue your IMBA National Supporter membership directly with IMBA.

Q: What benefits do I receive from my NORBA / SORBA membership?
A: You will receive access to the Subaru VIP Signature Program, ExpertVoice, BikeInsure, as well as discounts on Flow Formulas, Trailforks Pro, Mulberry Gap, and the Crash Pad Chattanooga. In the SORBA app, you will receive digital membership cards for both NORBA and SORBA Main. When looking at SORBA Main’s profile, you can click on Benefits to
access these member perks. NORBA is currently sourcing additional local benefits which will be available in the app; we’ll announce them as they become available.

Q: Will I still get my IMBA benefits?
A: You will keep your IMBA benefits through your National Supporter membership.

Q: How will I know when it’s time to renew my membership?
A: For your NORBA membership, you’ll receive renewal reminders via email from noreply@hivepass.app once your membership has expired. You can also check your expiration date anytime within the SORBA app by navigating to your NORBA digital membership card. Within 60 days of expiration, a “Renew Now” button will appear above your NORBA card if you’d like to renew early and it will add one year on to your current expiration date.
You’ll renew directly through NORBA within the SORBA app, and once renewed, your SORBA Main membership card will automatically update as part of your NORBA membership.
For your IMBA membership, you’ll receive separate renewal emails from IMBA for your National Supporter membership. If you’re on a monthly or annual auto-renew plan, those payments will continue as usual unless you contact IMBA at membership@imba.com

Q: What does SORBA do to support the chapters?
A: SORBA is like a quiet machine working in the background while our chapters are in the community building and growing in exciting and visible ways. SORBA is there to help chapter leaders with any questions or obstacles as they navigate running a nonprofit organization. Everything from compliance to insurance, conflict resolution and fundraising must all be managed, and if we provide those support systems, chapters can focus on doing what they do best: build and maintain trail systems and create inclusive, active communities. SORBA provides liability insurance to all chapters, twice annual in-person events, educational opportunities in-person and online, and offers a unified voice of over 10,000 members to help make the mountain biking community in the Southeast a strong, unified, influential voice.

Q: What about IMBA?
A: It is important as advocates for us to work together and SORBA will continue to support IMBA’s national efforts for trail access and their mission of bringing more trails close to home.

Q: Who will benefit from the transition?
A: Everyone! SORBA, our chapters, and our members. And with these benefits, your local trails will also see a positive change from better support.
